Product Details

Small Kidney Beans (Small Lobia/Rajma Chota) are compact kidney-shaped beans with an earthy flavour and creamy centre when thoroughly cooked. Their smaller size works well in Pakistani rajma, lobia curry, mixed-bean dishes, soups and fully cooked salads.

Why choose Arabian Farms Small Lobia?

  • Non-hybrid small kidney beans selected for everyday cooking
  • Carefully sorted and graded before hygienic packing
  • No added colours, flavours or preservatives
  • Compact beans suited to curries, soups and stews
  • Batch-coded for accountable handling

Safe soaking and cooking

  1. Inspect and rinse the beans thoroughly.
  2. Soak in plenty of water for 8–12 hours or overnight.
  3. Discard the soaking water and add fresh water.
  4. Bring to a full boil and boil vigorously for at least 10 minutes, then continue cooking until completely tender.

Never eat kidney beans raw, sprouted or undercooked. Boil them before transferring to a slow cooker because slow cooking alone may not provide a sufficiently hot initial boil.

Best uses

  • Small rajma or lobia curry
  • Rice-and-bean meals
  • Vegetable and bean stew
  • Soup and mixed-bean dishes
  • Fully cooked bean salads

Small lobia vs larger kidney beans

Small lobia has a more compact grain and may reach tenderness sooner than larger kidney beans, although actual cooking time depends on soaking, water and batch age. Use the size and colour suited to your recipe rather than assuming nutritional superiority.

Nutrition in context

Small kidney beans naturally provide plant protein, dietary fibre and carbohydrates. They can contribute to varied meals without promising energy, digestion or wellness outcomes.

Storage

Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from humidity and sunlight. Use a clean, dry scoop and inspect before rinsing.

Frequently asked questions

Must small kidney beans be soaked?

Overnight soaking is recommended for shorter, more even cooking.

Can small lobia be cooked only in a slow cooker?

No. First boil soaked kidney beans vigorously for at least 10 minutes, then transfer them if desired.

Why are my beans still firm?

Older beans, hard water, inadequate soaking and acidic ingredients added early can delay softening.

Compare with White Kidney Beans or Red Kidney Beans.
